Are you curious about who Jesus is and what Christianity about?

Here are a few things you should know about the character of Jesus:

  • Jesus was there when the world was created. He has always existed. (John 1:1)

  • Jesus came to earth to make the final sacrifice that would purchase our freedom (redeem us) with His blood. (Ephesians 1:7)

  • Only He had the power to break the curse of death in our lives, because only He was fully God, fully man, and fully blameless. (Colossians 2:9) (2 Cor. 5:21)⁣

  • Jesus is the firstborn of the Holy family of God. Because of His self-sacrifice, we have full access to the Father as His rightful adopted children! (Romans 8:29)

  • Jesus is now seated at the right hand of the Father in Heaven. He has all authority over heaven and earth. (Romans 8:34)

  • Jesus is the only way to eternal life in the presence of God, and the only way to find freedom from sin. (John 14:6)

  • Jesus will judge us all in the end! If you want to be on the right side of His judgement, be His follower! He will give you mercy, grace, and more than you could imagine. (2 Corinthians 5:10)

  • Jesus is coming back for us! He will gather His people and we will live together in heaven! Isn’t that amazing?! (Hebrews 9:28) (Revelation 1:7) (Matthew 24:44)

Knowing now who He is, you have a decision to make:

Would you submit to Jesus as Lord of your life?

Jesus is all of these things and more.

who is

Jesus?

1. Acknowledge that your sin separates you from God.

When God created the world, mankind was in perfect harmony with Him.

Once sin entered the world through the first sin committed by Adam and Eve, sin separated mankind from God.

Romans 3:23 says, "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."

Romans 6:23 says, "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." Understand your need to be reunited to God.

how to give your life to Jesus

2.  know that Jesus frees you from the  penalty of sin

3. believe that salvation is by grace through faith in christ alone

4. Put your faith in action

God cannot tolerate sin because He is perfect. That is why sin separates us from God. But God loved mankind so much that He sent a solution to the problem of sin—Jesus Christ.

Through the sacrifice of Jesus, His blood paid our ransom and wiped the debt of sin away from our record.

Salvation is not through good works or human effort. Salvation is only made through the sacrifice of Jesus.

Ephesians 2:8-9 tells us that "it is by grace you have been saved through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not of works, so that no one can boast."

This means that you have access to the redemption and freedom from sin that Jesus died for simply by having faith. You must believe in Jesus and live for Him.

Romans 10:9 says, "If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved."

Make a declaration of faith by speaking out loud that Jesus is Lord, to confirm the belief in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, and your decision to live for Him.

TO MAKE JESUS YOUR LORD AND SAVIOR, MARK YOUR DECISION BY PRAYING THIS PRAYER:

HEAVENLY FATHER,

I confess that I have sinned against You and you alone.

I recognize my sin and wrongdoing, and I am sorry for hurting you and others because of it.

I repent. Please forgive me.

I make the decision to turn away from my sin to accept your sacrifice for my redemption. Thank you for loving me and choosing me.

I believe that You sent Jesus to sacrifice Himself for me on the cross and raise back to life so that I can be forgiven and set free.

I submit myself to you to become Lord of my life. Teach me how to love you and live for you.

In Jesus name I pray,
Amen

This means that you’re:

  • Officially a child of God! (John 1:12)
  • Redeemed and forgiven! (Ephesians 1:7)
  • Chosen and appointed by God (John 15:16)
  • A royal priesthood and holy nation (1 Peter 2:9)
  • A friend of God (John 15:15)
  • A citizen of heaven (Philippians 3:20; 2 Timothy 1:7)
  • Raised to life with Christ (Colossians 3:1-4)
  • More than a conqueror (Romans 8:37)
  • A new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17)
  • Heaven is rejoicing with you because of the decision you made today! (Luke 15:7)
If you just prayed this prayer, then congratulations!

You’ve crossed over from death to life! You’re officially a Christian!

ready for

Jesus?

Congratulations!

Being a Christian isn’t just a one-time prayer. Being a Christian means that you live for Jesus every day of your life.

Here are some natural next steps that you can take to build your everyday walk with Christ:

what's next?

1. Tell another believer

Tell another Christian about the decision you’ve made! Allow them to celebrate with you and help you get acclimated to Kingdom living.
Baptism in water signifies you crossing over from death to live because of Jesus. Every Christian must be baptized as an outward declaration of obedience.
(Acts 10:48).

After you’ve been baptized in water, be baptized in the Holy Spirit. (Matthew 3:11; Acts 19:2-6) Baptism comes as a byproduct of salvation—you do not get baptized to earn your salvation.
The Church isn’t a building. The Church is the body of Christ—all of the Jesus-followers that operate in their unique way to create a functioning whole.

Whether your church gathers online or in-person, community and friendship are absolutely essential. Seek out a mentor that can disciple you in the faith. You shouldn’t do this alone!

Read the bible, pray and worship every single day. This is your lifeline. This is how you build a genuine relationship with Jesus Christ.

God is waiting to communicate with you!
2. get baptized

3. join the church

4. read, pray & worship
