Overcoming The Battle in Your Mind With Christ!

We are bombarded with countless thoughts from the moment we wake up until we fall asleep at night. If we are not careful, we can let our negative thoughts lead us into despair. A place where God never intended us to stay or live in.

Thank God for the light of Jesus that leads us out of darkness. He lights up the path to freedom and to a sound mind.

The more we seek God and align our thoughts with the truth that is found in God’s word the more freedom, joy, peace, and clarity we will have.


If you have ever found yourself in a place where you have struggled with negative thought patterns, take heart knowing God will set you free.

I want to share with you 4 truths that will help you find breakthrough in this area as you let your mind be renewed by Christ!

 

Recognize the power of your thoughts and Take authority over them

I used to think and say all the time that nothing comes easy for me. I felt I had to work much harder than most to achieve anything I wanted. As you could imagine I faced many challenges as I tried to seek out new opportunities.

As I started to learn more about the power of our thoughts, I realized that me rehearsing this thought (that wasn’t necessarily true) was holding me back from receiving all that God has for me.

I started to learn about God’s Grace, favor, and mercy and I started to choose thoughts that align with God’s word.

We must recognize that any false beliefs that we think or utter about ourselves can prevent us from seeing our lives as God originally designed for it to be.

 

 Colossians 3:2 Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.

As this scripture states think thoughts that align with what God says about you and you will see the promises of God come forth in your life.

Not only must we be attentive of our thoughts, but we must also reject any thought that doesn’t align with the Word of God.

This may not be easy at first because we have been stuck in false ideals about ourselves for years. But the more you exercise your authority in Christ to choose better thoughts for yourself the stronger your mind will become at this.

 

2 Corinthians 10:5 We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.

This scripture is reminding us to not let any thought that doesn’t align with God’s truth go unexamined.  As soon as you find yourself reverting to a negative mindset take your authority in Christ and refuse to let the thought take root in you and fester.

Replace the Negative thought or lie with truth and Scripture

One of the most effective ways to combat negative thinking is to become familiar with scripture. In moments when I find myself spiraling into a negative head space, I find scripture to help me see the light again.

For example, sometimes I think my past or who I was before developing a relationship with Christ disqualifies me from living out the great calling I believe is on my life. But then I recall 2 Corinthians 5:17;

Which states

17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!

And just like that! my spirit is lifted, and I’m surrounded by God’s mercy and grace.

The word of God is alive and has the power to truly set you free from any bondage you are experiencing in your mind.

  

Ephesians 6:17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God

 

 Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.

These scriptures emphasize the power of God’s word. It will produce the intended result when used to combat every mindset, every spirit, and every stronghold that is opposing the spirit of God living within us.

For every thought that you feel is not serving you and building your relationship with Christ find scripture to counteract it.

Trust and believe that scripture is your weapon in battling any discouraging thoughts you have!

SPEAK TO YOUR MOUNTAIN!

As Christian women we have the authority and power to speak to the situation that is disturbing our peace of mind.

There is power in your words. Use scripture and tear down every lie that is preventing you from moving forward.

Mark 11 22-24 “Have faith in God,” Jesus answered. 23 “Truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them. 24 Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.

This scripture is meant to empower us to speak to the very situation or circumstance that is hindering our peace of mind. By the power and authority in Christ we have, it must be removed!

Thank God for the victory we have in Christ to speak to and ultimately overcome any mental stronghold!

LET CHRIST SHIFT YOUR MINDSET AND EXPECT THE GOODNESS OF GOD to flow in your life

Another effective way to realign our thoughts with God is reminding ourselves of the goodness of God. He is our redeemer, our restorer and our Heavenly Father who created us to live out his will for our lives and do so with Joy!

God did not create us so intently, so lovingly, and marvelously only for us to be powerless to the tormenting thoughts in our minds. No!

With Christ we have the victory! we have already won any battle we are facing including the battle taken place in our minds.

Romans 8:37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.

 

John 16:33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

These powerful scriptures speak to the overcomers we are in Christ. Let us never forget this truth. Shift your focus from your negative thoughts and instead fixate on the joy and peace that is found in Jesus.

Know that God has given you a sound mind (see 2 Timothy 1:7). He has your future in his hands once you surrender your will to him.

The life God has for you is magnificent so expect nothing less.

Romans 8:28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose

Ephesians 3:20 Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us

Mediate on the above scriptures whenever you are struggling to see the abundant, joyful, and glorious life God created you to live.

 

I want to invite you to wake up daily and choose to set your mind on things above as scripture instructs us to.

We must surrender our thoughts, our words, our will, and our desires to the mighty God of the universe and expect victory!

Let us never forget that with Christ we have the victory! We have already won this battle.
