Do you struggle with accepting the good things that happen in your life? When too many good things happen, do you find yourself waiting for something to come crashing down? Or maybe you are walking through the toughest moment in your life and you feel like you can’t catch your breath.

Life is full of uncertainties, there are so many highs and lows, but one thing is certain and that is God. 

If you have ever been caught in a storm then you know how difficult it is to see anything around you other than the rain. Things usually aren’t clear until you are out of that storm or the rain finally begins to clear.

Similar to our lives, it can become difficult to see things clearly when we are going through something. That is exactly why in those moments we have to rest in God’s love. 

It is in those difficult times that we have to place our total trust in God, allow God to be our strength, trust in God’s promises, and keep our hope alive. It is easy to lose faith when we are relying on earthly things to carry us through, those things are forever changing. When we rest in God, we rest on a firm foundation that is unshakable. 

So, if you are going through something or just finding yourself struggling with being content with where you are in life, let that be your reminder to just rest in God’s love.

God’s Love Expels All Fear

Going through storms isn’t easy but it is something that all of us have experienced or will experience. However, we don’t have to go through them alone and when we go through them we don’t have to fear. When we choose to rest in God’s love we are choosing to allow God’s love to work in our lives. God’s perfect love removes all fear. When love is present, fear is expelled. 

1 John 4:18 “Such love has no fear, because perfect love expels all fear. If we are afraid, it is for fear of punishment, and this shows that we have not fully experienced his perfect love.” 

Matthew 8:26 “Jesus responded, “Why are you afraid? You have so little faith!” Then he got up and rebuked the wind and waves, and suddenly there was a great calm. “

God’s Love Is Unfailing

It is easy to give in to the false idea that when we are going through something it is because God is not with us anymore. However, God’s love is secure! There is nothing that can separate you from it.

When we rest in God’s love, we get to have faith that God is with us through it all. Not only is God with us but He cares. He cares about how we are feeling and is there to give us peace as we go through it. 

Psalm 31:7 “I will be glad and rejoice in your unfailing love, for you have seen my troubles, and you care about the anguish of my soul.”

God’s Love Is A Shield

We are surrounded with God’s shield of love. Having a faith in God that He will protect us gives us the rest that we need. So many things are out of our control but God is in control of everything. 

Psalm 5:11-12 “But let all who take refuge in you rejoice;  let them sing joyful praises forever. Spread your protection over them, that all who love your name may be filled with joy.For you bless the godly, O Lord;you surround them with your shield of love.” 

Storms will come, but we can rest in God’s perfect love. He not only holds us, but he holds it all.
