As a Christian, you are not exempt from dealing with the temptation. Even Jesus was tempted here on earth.

But it’s important to know that temptation is not a sin. It is when we yield to temptation that we have sinned. God has taught me how to stand on His word to resist temptation.

It has been very challenging at times, but with God all things are possible. The Lord showed me how to get into scripture, study the word, and stand on these truths when tempted.

Yes, there are times when I failed and yielded to sin, but there are times when through the power of the Holy Spirit, He empowered me to resist the temptation.

And through the journey, the Lord slowly molded me into His likeness.

Don’t give up. Know that God is faithful; He will empower you to resist temptation. And if you are a child of God, He already has.

Here Are 10 Empowering Scriptures To Stand On When Dealing With Temptation

No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation, he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.

1 Corinthians 10:13

Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

James 4:7

Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. 9 Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world.

1 Peter 5:8-9

Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

Romans 12:21

10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.

Ephesians 6:10-12

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.

2 Corinthians 5:17

I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.

Psalm 119:11

For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age, waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people for his own possession who are zealous for good works.

Titus 2:11–14

12 Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires. 13 Do not offer any part of yourself to sin as an instrument of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life, and offer every part of yourself to him as an instrument of righteousness. 14 For sin shall no longer be your master because you are not under the law but under grace.

Romans 6:12-14

We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.

2 Corinthians 10:5

God is faithful to see you through any temptations you may be facing. Focus on Jesus and the truths in the Word of God. He will empower you and encourage you to resist temptation.

There is hope in Jesus as we look to Him.
